Home School Program
The NIST Homeschool program offers admissions in every grades and the curriculum is designed based on the Ministry of Education, Ontario, Canada. The academic program of the NIST Homeschooling includes the same education across the kindergarten to grade 12.
Accredited Curriculum
NIST offers a world-class educational program offering an accredited curriculum from the Ontario Ministry of Education in Canada. We pride ourselves in educating students to be recognized global citizens advocating for positive change and leadership in learning.
Our students engage in a variety of individual and group learning experiences using 21st century tools to ensure workplace and professional readiness for their future. We educate and train our students to pursue higher education, applying to universities of their choice. The students document their learning experiences throughout their time at NIST, using the framework of the five learning stages – Investigation, Preparation, Action, Reflection and Demonstration.
NIST and 3Cs OF Learning
NIST supports the 3Cs of learning – Conceptual, Competency and Character learning. Students can extend their subject learning to their social-emotional experiences and vice versa. This will strengthen their subject understanding and knowledge, and allow them to enjoy different approaches to their subjects. By engaging in and documenting their learning experiences:
Conceptual
The students develop and enhance their ‘thinking skills’, ‘communication skills’, ‘social skills’, ‘self-management skills’ and ‘research skills’.
Competency
The students are able to practice and demonstrate world-class learner profiles in real and practical ways; to be ‘inquirers’, ‘knowledgeable’, ‘thinkers’, ‘communicators’, ‘principled’, ‘open-minded’, ‘caring’, ‘risk-takers’, ‘balanced’ and ‘reflective’.
Character
The students develop an appreciation for and regularly practice core values of ‘joy’, ‘caring’, ‘integrity’, ‘inspiration’ and ‘respect’.

Learn Online at Your Own Pace
NIST offers a full accredited homeschool educational experience to families that opt for this option for their children. We deliver our homeschool courses through an intuitive student learning experience. Within each course, students are provided with “lessons” that encompass all the resources to teach, convey, reinforce, and help the student learn and master a concept.
Each lesson begins with a video lecture in which a teacher presents a single, specific concept or a few concepts that are tightly intertwined. NIST high-resolution videos give students the information and instruction they need to master the course material, creating the feeling of a one-on-one learning experience.
Students who enroll in the NIST Homeschool Education program are typically looking for an alternative to traditional school settings for a variety of reasons, such as a medical necessity, interest in more rigorous coursework, safety from bullying issues, a more flexible learning environment, and independent studies for students who would like to accomplish mastery-based learning.
NIST homeschooling high school graduates are welcomed into top universities around the world. The school’s programs are flexible, yet rigorous, resulting in graduates that are motivated to achieve success and are optimistic about their future.
Kindergarten
The NIST Kindergarten preschool provides children with a play-based and emergent curriculum, which is child-centred and teacher framed. Our educators develop large and small group online instruction; sharing learning centers, based on observed student abilities, skills and interests. Age-appropriate instruction, activities, and centers will be provided to children daily in the areas set forth by the Ontario Ministry of Education. A strong focus is put on developing children’s self-regulation and growing independence within a caring and nurturing environment that considers children’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual well being.
Age Requirement:
Parents interested in our preschool must ensure that their child meets the age requirements; children must be between the ages of 4 to 6 years old to be eligible to apply. Parents are asked for their child’s proof of age at time of application.
Grade 1 - 6
The NIST Elementary and Primary Education program serves students in grade 1 to grade 6. The elementary courses include core subjects such as mathematics, English language arts and reading, science, and social studies. Students will take elective courses, such as coding, art, and music, as well.
Supported by an incredible staff of educators, NIST’s elementary school program uses a blend of captivating videos, interactive course materials, and synchronous live online instruction. This engaging instructional format maintains the attention of even the youngest students at NIST.
When a student enrolls in the NIST elementary and primary program, they will receive:

✓ And personalized instruction based on individual student needs.
The program ensures that each student has mastered necessary concepts before moving them onto the next grade, keeping them on pace with their peers. NIST’s elementary school will provide students with the knowledge they need to move on to our middle school program.

Elementary Programs
Students are encouraged to explore, experiment, wonder, inquire, practice, invent, create, imagine and play. We believe that learning should be fun and that part of our role as educators of young children is to instill a love of learning. We want all our learners to be actively engaged and involved fully with a hands-on approach to all learning experiences. Our program strives to develop students who are independent and life-long learners. The attributes of NIST serve not only as a guide for the kind of student that we hope will graduate from our school, but for all the learners in our school community: students, teachers and parents. We also hope that parents will encourage the development of these attributes at home in order to support what is being done at school.
Grade 7 - 8
The NIST Middle School Education program will prepare students for high school while building upon subjects and concepts they learned in elementary courses. Students take classes that cover mathematics, English language arts and reading, science, history, geography, and health and physical education. Supported by an incredible staff of educators, NIST’s middle school program uses a blend of captivating videos, interactive course materials, and synchronous live online instruction. This engaging instructional format maintains the attention of this age group at NIST.

Grade 9 - 12
The NIST High School Education program allows students to graduate with a Canadian accredited diploma from the Ontario Ministry of Education, called the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). In accordance with our vision of disseminating knowledge to others, NIST wishes to execute this vision to the global market by offering students all around the world a strong educational foundation through a Canadian high school diploma. Our graduates are highly successful in their pursuit of higher education in universities and colleges across the globe, including North America, Europe, and Australia. Our students pride themselves with successfully completing a journey of one of the richest curriculum’s offered in a global context.
Through NIST, International Students can:

To meet NIST’s graduation requirements, students can select from an expansive list of courses. In addition to core subjects, like Math, English language, Arts, and Science, students can select electives that they find interesting, which allows them to experiment with subjects tailored to specific career fields.

As our program grows year after year, we strive to offer a wide range of opportunities for creativity, technology, and service to the community. Within this context, students of varying abilities and aptitudes are encouraged to develop to their full intellectual, social, moral, physical, creative, emotional and individual potential. We believe in cultivating the skillsets of our students through project-based learning, extra-curricular online activities, and a student-centered instruction and assessment pedagogy.

In order to successfully complete the high school program at NIST, and graduate with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), students must fulfil all ministry requirements.

Why Pursue Vocational Training?
Any person who needs to develop job skills or certification in a certain field should consider applying to NIST’s vocational program. Prioritizing career-specific skills has a practical focus, preparing students for entry into the workforce.
Vocational education is an important option to consider at NIST, especially for any person who is already working in their chosen career or field, and who may just need to update or certify their training to work in North America.
