Grade 1

Grade 1 is the first year of the elementary and primary education (ELE) section. To successfully complete Grade 1, students should complete six courses (i.e, arts, English, health and physical education, mathematics, science and social studies) as part of the Ontario School board requirement. Further, students should take five courses (i.e, cognitive skill development, computer literacy, native language and culture, religion and sustainable life and trees) as part of the NIST Hybrid Curriculum (NHC). Therefore, full-time students should enroll all courses in two semesters [First semester + Second semester]. Part-time students are allowed to register for a minimum of two courses per semester.

This program is periodically assessed by the ministry of education, Ontario, Canada. The primary purpose of assessment and evaluation is to improve student learning. Therefore, NIST follows the ministry of education guidelines, “Growing Success – Assessment, Evaluation, and Reporting in Ontario Schools (2010)” to ensure the highest level of quality education for our children.
