SUS05: Climate Change and Waste ManagementÂ
This course is designed for students in Grade 5 which covers mainly climate change, reducing food waste and offers composting as a solution. Parts of this effort is also covered in a chapter in Science course. In this lesson, students will understand that human activities in agriculture, industry, and everyday life affect our environment. They will be taught about various environmental problems and how these problems are affecting our world. Students will get a basic conceptual knowledge about Climate Change and its influences on life. They will concentrate on problems related to food waste and sending food to the landfill. Moreover, they will discover about backyard and industrial composting as a solution. At the end of the lesson, students will write a letter to the editor (for the newspaper) as a case study where they emphasize that humans are changing the climate and then offer a few solutions to the problem. This lesson is designed to teach taking 24 hours.
